Jesus was the perfect example in all things. One lesson we learn from His teachings is that our mothers are important and should be honored.

In John 19: 25-27 we read what Jesus said before he gave His life on the cross:

25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! 27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

Jesus had just been ridiculed, beaten, bloodied and nailed to a cross with a crown of thorns upon his head, and his concern was for his mother and who would look after her when He was gone. In a tender moment, he addressed his mother and his beloved disciple John to make sure she knew John would take care of her as if he were her son.
